Wei Qiao, director of Yongxing Agricultural Machinery Cooperative in Zhenjiang City, was busy checking and maintaining agricultural machines on the morning of March 23 together with other workers.
Wei, also a deputy to the National People''s Congress, returned to the city soon after the national legislature concluded its annual session in Beijing.
The critical control period of wheat blast and powdery mildew is approaching, so it’s important to get the drones ready, according to Wei. One technician can operate two or three drones to implement the disease control in 200 mu (13.3 hectares) in an hour, which greatly enhances accuracy and efficiency compared with conventional methods.
Wei said the company’s digital platform manages nearly 20,000 mu of fields by dividing them into 12 zones. It also uses a crop health monitoring system to conduct data analysis and identify priorities so the right amount of insecticides can be used, and this targeted approach also facilitates sustainable farming.
Wei believes promoting agricultural modernization is an inevitable requirement to achieve high-quality development. The use of cloud platform and real-time information from dozens of agricultural machines has made agricultural modernization more vivid and closer than ever.
Agricultural technologies have not only improved the quality of crop growing but also made farming in a large area easier and manageable, Wei said.
