Xuzhou City in East China’s Jiangsu Province held the opening ceremony of the 19th Peng Zu Fuyang Festival as well as a ceremony to honor Peng Zu, or Ancestor Peng, a legendary long-lived figure in China.
The Fuyang Festival is a traditional festival celebrated by local residents in Xuzhou, which centers on summer days and dishes made from mutton.

The festival includes 20 programs in four categories including consumption promotion, cultural exhibition, publicity and charity. This includes inviting foreigners to learn about the traditional festival and enjoy the delicious food. Various e-commerce platforms will also feature the city’s Fuyang food.

In May 2022, the traditional festival was selected in the fifth batch of representative items of national intangible cultural heritage.
