The event showcased kites in various shapes and styles. Hu Zhi, a master of Banyao kite, demonstrated a large and flat kite that can make a melodious sound in the air when wind changes. Banyao kites are also a highlight of Nantong crafts.
The competition was held along with a carnival with activities such as kite DIY workshops, an exhibition of local intangible cultural heritage, a bonfire party, and a display of kites that can glow in the dark.
