Changzhou is home to China's first carbon-neutral gas station

The Sinopec Jiaze Gas Station located in Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province was the first in China to achieve carbon neutrality thanks to a distributed photovoltaic power generation project.

The gas station has also introduced the oil vapor recovery and sewage recovery and treatment to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

At 7:00 pm on May 27, He Xiaojian, head of the station, said power generated by 250 solar panels on the cloudy day is still sufficient to meet the electricity needs of the station, convenience store at the site, and the self-service car wash for one day.

When the weather is clear, it can also meet the charging needs of electric vehicle, said He.

The project went into operation last April and it has an annual power generation of 122,500 kWh.
