"Strategic stability means everything, because businesses need stability in order to make long-term investments," said Jeffrey Lehman, Chair of the Board of Governors of AmCham Shanghai and Vice Chancellor of NYU Shanghai, during the 2026 Jiangsu Government Roundtable Meeting with U.S. Enterprises held in Nanjing on May 28. Speaking with Xinhua Daily, Lehman highly praised Jiangsu’s premier business environment and its robust industrial ecosystem. The roundtable gathered representatives from over a dozen leading American enterprises across sectors such as advanced manufacturing, cutting-edge R&D, and modern logistics, all showcasing their deep roots in the province. Lehman emphasized that recent positive signals from top-level diplomacy have injected continuous confidence into the business community. "There has been a long history of economic cooperation here in Jiangsu province," Lehman noted. "Jiangsu is filled with immense opportunities, and bilateral economic cooperation will only become stronger and stronger."
