Chinese and foreign experts, scholars, and young students gathered in Nanjing for the “Green Code, Chinese Wisdom” International Youth Dialogue on River Ecological Governance on August 11.
During the visit, Professor Yu Zhongbo – Chair of Water Education at UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme (IHP) and former President of the IHP – offered an insightful interpretation of China's millennia‑old water governance heritage. and emphasized that the Yangtze River conservation and the high‑quality development of its basin represent a living “green code” for China’s ecological civilisation. He stressed that China has a responsibility to share its accumulated water wisdom – both ancient and contemporary – with the rest of the world.
