A 30-member delegation of teachers and students from the UK's Clarion School joined the Sino-British Youth Cultural Exchange Week in Nanjing, as part of the Global Partnership Program run by Jiangsu Education and Culture Center for International Exchange (JECIE).
During their four-day visit from March 10 to 13, the British students and teachers visited three local high schools in Nanjing, and joined Chinese peers for shared lessons and carried out wide-ranging peer-to-peer exchanges during the campus visits.
At Nanjing Xianlin Foreign Language School, the group took part in a basketball session, where Chinese and British students were split into mixed teams to compete side by side. At a sports outreach event hosted by Nanjing Yuhuatai High School, a friendly sports tournament got all participants fired up.
Beyond campus activities, the delegation gained hands-on experience with a variety of Chinese intangible cultural heritage (ICH) crafts and traditional cultural practices, including calligraphy, tie-dye, Song brocade handicraft, and Baduanjin — a gentle form of traditional Chinese physical exercise.
The group also explored Nanjing's historic Confucius Temple, a landmark cultural and tourism site in the city, and toured the Nanjing City Wall Museum. The visits allowed them to develop a deep understanding of the richness and depth of Chinese civilization, as well as the enduring spiritual heritage of the Chinese nation.
