Jiangsu Province carried out over 500 voluntary tree-planting activities on March 12, the 48th National Tree Planting Day.

The province plans to complete afforestation of 33,000 hectares during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, with the target of 6,600 hectares for this year.

To achieve this target, Jiangsu plans to tap into the potential for afforestation and greening in barren mountains, saline-alkali wastelands, and marginal lands, and enhance the diversity and sustainability of the forest ecosystem.

According to statistics, since 2021, Jiangsu Province has held 32,672 voluntary tree-planting activities, in which 430 million trees were planted. In 2025, the afforestation area in Jiangsu amounted to 12,660 hectares, and 75,000 hectares during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.

In addition, during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, Jiangsu will also promote the steady development of forestry carbon sinks, strengthen the research and application of scientific and technological projects, and enhance the annual monitoring of forest carbon storage at the provincial and county levels throughout the province.
