The full-scale construction of Nantong's new airport is to start in 2027, according to the bidding announcement from Nantong authority on January 5th.

The new airport, as an important part of Shanghai's international aviation hub, is located in Erjia Town of Tongzhou District and designed to handle 40 million passengers and 500,000 tons of cargo and mail by 2035.

According to the plan, two 3,600-meter-long runways will be constructed, including one 4F-level runway.
