The first Taizhou cuisine-themed tourist train in the Yangtze River Delta departed from Shanghai for Taizhou at 7:50 a.m. on December 5.

Carrying more than 600 passengers, the train C9702 offered a range of local attractions over the three-day, two-night journey. Travelers strolled through the ancient town of Qintong, visited Qin Lake National Wetland Park, and took a night cruise along the Fengcheng River.

They also sampled zaocha, Taizhou's traditional breakfast culture, which typically includes tea, gansi (shredded dried tofu), crab-roe soup bun, steamed dumpling, shumai, and the signature fish soup noodles.

In the waiting hall of Taizhou Railway Station, zaocha dishes such as Jiangyan-style baked buns and Xuanbao-style wontons also drew the attention of passengers.

Taizhou has been in the spotlight this year after its city team won the 2025 Jiangsu Football City League, one of China's most popular sporting events. In response, the city has launched a series of cultural and tourism incentives to welcome visitors from across the country.
