From May 9 to 13, 25 students from Peking University, hailing from 13 countries, embarked on their study tour in Nanjing, Yangzhou, Changzhou, and Wuxi.

Co-organized by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment and Xinhua Daily Media Group, a series of videos titled "International Students on Ecological Keywords" documented Jiangsu's ecological transformation and told Chinese stories of green and low-carbon development.

During their trip, the students visited the Taihu Lake, a vital source of drinking water for the Yangtze River Delta. In March 2024, the "Taihu Star" dredging vessel was put into operation for the rejuvenation of the lake. In August 2025, the world's first eco-friendly dredging and intelligent platform — the "Taihu Light" — was deployed, adding another major tool to the technology-driven lake restoration.

Data shows that water quality of the Taihu Lake achieved a historic breakthrough in 2024, reaching Grade III status, which stood as a proof of ecological improvement and green development.
