Five high-speed railways to be opened in Yangtze River Delta this year

The investment in railway construction in the Yangtze River Delta is expected to exceed 130 billion yuan this year, and five high-speed railways are scheduled to be opened.

Guo Tao, director of the Engineering Technology Department of Jiangsu Railway Group, introduced that as of now, the group is joining the construction of 11 railway projects, with a total mileage of 1,121 kilometers.

During this year's Spring Festival holiday, Jiangsu railways sent about 7.537 million passengers, an increase of 11.0% year-on-year, ranking first in the Yangtze River Delta region in terms of passenger volume.

With the opening of a number of major projects, the coverage rate of county-level nodes in the province has reached 76%, and the passenger volume of railways in northern and central Jiangsu has exceeded 100 million for the first time.

In terms of freight transportation, by 2025, the province had achieved a railway freight dispatch volume of over 96 million tons, representing a year-on-year growth of 7.4%, ranking first in the Yangtze River Delta region.

This year, the railway department will continue to accelerate the opening of more railway freight yards, enhancing the capacity for international railway transportation.
