By the end of 2025, 54 cities in 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities nationwide had opened 343 urban rail transit lines with a total operating mileage of 11,710.3 kilometers, according to the Ministry of Transport.

Among them, Nanjing has 15 lines and an operating mileage of 524.4 kilometers, ranking 7th in the country.

According to the data, 43 cities are operating 282 metro and light rail lines, 17 cities operating 26 monorail and maglev, and 19 cities operating 35 tram and automatic guided rail lines.
