With the discovery of Green-headed Ducks in Nanjing's Xinjizhou Wetland Park on January 8, the total number of CAT-1 national protected species in the park amounted to nine, reflecting the improvement of the ecological environment of the Yangtze River in Nanjing.

Recently, a research team from Nanjing University also found about 550 Tundra Swans stopping over in the wetland park, setting a new record.

Xinjizhou Wetland Park, with a total area of 2,681 hectares, is the first national wetland park in Nanjing. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), the total area of wetland in the park has increased by 30% to 69.9%, and the number of bird species has increased by 41 to 231.
