Jiangsu has fully accomplished the environmental protection targets set by the national authorities for the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025), according to the press conference held by the Information Office of Jiangsu Provincial Government on January 6.
The PM2.5 concentration dropped to 31.3 micrograms per cubic meter in 2025, an improvement of 16.5% compared to the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan. The ratio of days of heavy pollution has reached the best level since the monitoring records began, and the background survey of biodiversity has recorded an increase of 2,363 species of biological species, said the conference.
Besides, Jiangsu Province now has one UNESCO World Natural Heritage site and three international wetland cities.
Jiangsu Province is now accelerating the construction of a green manufacturing system. The province has established 439 national-level green factories, 51 green industrial parks, and 80 green supply chain management enterprises, with the level ranking among the top in the country.
As of November 2025, the installed capacity of renewable energy in the province was 119 million kilowatts, accounting for 48.2% of the total.
