The Nanjing Xinshengwei Yangtze River Bridge officially opened to traffic at 9 a.m. on November 26, cutting travel time from downtown Nanjing to its Jiangbei New Area from around one hour to just 10 minutes.

Spanning approximately 13.17 kilometers, the bridge features three lanes in each direction. The bridge's main span reaches 1,760 meters — the largest of its kind in China — and can accommodate 50,000-tonne vessels, enhancing navigation safety and efficiency.

The new link will greatly ease traffic pressure and create fresh opportunities for industrial collaboration. The southern bank of the Yangtze River will focus on sectors such as new materials, electronic information, intelligent equipment and new-energy vehicles, while the northern bank will prioritize energy conservation, environmental protection and aerospace.

So far, Jiangsu has completed 21 cross-Yangtze River links, with eight more under construction.
