A shipment of 38.4 tonnes of green coffee beans from Burundi recently cleared customs in Kunshan, which aims to develop a vibrant, world-class coffee industry in China.
This shipment marks the first time Burundian products benefited from this zero-tariff treatment. China's General Administration of Customs issued an announcement on September 13, 2024, permitting eligible coffee beans from Burundi to be imported into China.
According to statistics from Kunshan Customs, coffee beans from Uganda, Ethiopia, Rwanda and Tanzania are already benefiting from the zero-tariff policy, with total tariff relief amounting to around 19 million yuan to date.
