An international youth event themed “Green Code, Chinese Wisdom” was held in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province on August 13, focusing on river and lake ecological governance. Co‑hosted by Xinhua Daily Media Group and the Department of Ecology and Environment of Jiangsu Province, the programme brought together experts and scholars from multiple countries to observe first‑hand the region’s successful water management practices.

The delegation first visited Gonghuwan Wetland Park, a key ecological restoration site on the shores of Taihu Lake. There, they explored the natural wetland ecosystem, learning about conservation efforts that have helped improve water quality and biodiversity in one of China’s largest freshwater lakes.

Walking along ancient stone bridges and cobblestone lanes of the historic Qingming Bridge area, the visitors immersed themselves in the 1,000‑year‑old culture of the Grand Canal, while also observing how modern heritage management balances preservation with sustainable tourism.
