On October 24, the permanent exhibition "Nothing Still about Still Lifes: Masterpieces from the World of Flowers Collection" officially reopens to the public at the Deji Art Museum in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province.
On the afternoon of October 23, an opening ceremony was held in Nanjing.
At the ceremony, one of the most significant works in the exhibition, "Flowers in a Vase" by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, a core founder of Impressionism, was displayed alongside the actual objects featured in the painting.
Through over a decade of systematic research and methodical collection, Deji Art Museum has built the world's only collection system that simultaneously focuses on floral-themed masterpieces in both Chinese and international modern and contemporary art. Under the theme of "flowers," it opens a new perspective for cross-cultural exchange between China and the rest of the world.
The renewal of the exhibition presents three key features: the addition of new artworks, a deeper narrative, and an elevated visitor experience. Two representative works by Chinese master artist Wu Dayu have been newly added to the exhibition, and the important role of female artists in the transformation and evolution of art is also prominently highlighted.
Alongside this renewal, Deji Art Museum has also launched the "Digital Collection Database," an online platform accessible to the public. The platform supports searches by artist, era, country, and material. More of the museum's core collection resources and research findings will gradually be made available to the public in digital form.
Deji Art Museum is the only museum in the world that remains open until midnight every day. It offers high-frequency guided tours every half hour, reduces the traditional "one-meter line" viewing distance, and uses low-reflection glass to provide an enhanced on-site viewing experience.
